Puzzle 2: The Birthday Celebration
| At the birthday celebration of an elderly gentleman, who has not yet turned
100 years old, a journalist asks him: "How many children have you?"
The gentleman answers: "The number of my grandchildren corresponds exactly to
my age. Every one of my sons has exactly as many brothers as children and every
one of my daughters has exactly as many sisters as children." The journalist
begins to calculate (he knows the age of the celebrated gentleman), then he says:
"You didn't give me enough data to find out the number of your children." "No, I
didn't", confirms the elderly gentleman, "but if I tell you, that I have more sons
than daughters, you get all the data you need."
